Major Baltic InteGrid output has been published: PreFeasibility Study report

While the Baltic InteGrid project is approaching its final phase, many outputs of the partnership are being finalized and will be continiously published on our website.

We are glad to announce, that the report “Towards a Baltic Offshore Grid: Connecting electricity markets through offshore wind farms is finally out!

As one of the main outputs it provides an in-depth analysis of the two prefeasibility study areas which were identified as ideal cases for interconnectors between countries: an electrical connection between Poland, Sweden and Lithuania integrated with planned offshore wind farms in these countries and an analogical connection between Sweden and Germany. The results include an analysis of technical, spatial and environmental conditions as well as a cost-benefit analysis of zero, partial and maximum integration scenarios of offshore wind farms with interconnectors.

The Foundation for Sustainable Energy was task lead and cooperated with 13 partners from all EU countries in the Baltic Sea Region. If you want to know more about opportunities for offshore wind and interconnectors in the South Baltic you definitely have to read it.
